Theatre Series
vol. 2
Golden Roll Productions goes to Broadway! Not exactly. There are two main reasons for the theatre series. The first is to show how some of the more popular actors in GRP developed their skills. The majority of these productions take place in 1989 and 1990 at Highland Regional High School in Blackwood, NJ. This is where many of GRP's performers developed there acting, writing and directing skills that will help the success of the company down the line.
The second reason for becoming involved in theatrical productions is to re-spark the interest of GRP cofounder Bill Shute. Bill was last seen in the monster smash Searching For A Glory. By GRP standards, that was over 20 productions ago. Bill has been busy working with his new theatre group writing many original skits. Bill and Mike decided to collaborate their talents once again. This time around Mike will produce Bill's production in two formats. First he will film the groups live stage performance and secondly film their skits in a controlled set atmosphere. This way the group has tape of themselves that they can use to promote themselves. As compensation, the group will be casted in Michael Mowery's new dramatic feature ARCHAIC.
The second installment takes us to a trilogy of a most unusually style. It is the evolution of the Dr. Crackpott series. This series is the launching pad for Michael Mowery, Joe McGroarty and Pete Mosiondz.

The Insane Dr. Crackpott and his dumb assistant are in search of creating the perfect date. Once Crackpott created his own date, he wanted to make one for his assistant. Enter Frank and katie Davis. Their car down and Dr. Crackpott eagerly invites them to stay. Eventually, Frank figures out what is going onand he along with Neville save the girls leaving Crackpott and Igor tied and gagged for the police.
The Ever Amazing Dr. Crackpott is a silly little 3 act play written by Pete Mosiondz. Pete would go on to play Captain Reginald P. Uwhyu in the Star Trek series. Also important to note here is that Michael Mowery and Joe McGroarty made their Highland acting debuts in this play. This would be the spark plug for many upcoming projects.

The weird gets weider. The 5 act improvisation had virtually no plot. Everybody did what they wanted to do. The story made little sense and it dragged on way to long.
The cast had no rehearsal time so they were studying their lines off stage and then trying to piece it together. The script was to in depth to be performed on such short notice. Basically it was conspiracy and revenge that motivated Crackpott to find Frank davis. Each character had their own sub plot which didn't help the main story. Over all, this play was a flop.

The third installment of the Crackpott trilogy takes Igor to Hollywood to vent out his frustrations about Dr. Crackpott. The talk show he ends up on is Church Chat. The other guests included Michael Myers and Superman.
The irony here is that Crackpott doesn't even appear in the episode. The play which became the second co-writing credit for Michael Mowery is one of the funniest things that he has been a part of to this point. Knowing it when they wrote it, it was a love it or hate it type of script. Fortunately the audience loved it. On that note, Crackpott was retired.
