Instagram Post: Welcome to July! I got up and hit the #gloucestertownshiphealthandwellnesstrail this morning before work. Rode the trail twice plus the neighborhoods in Hiltop & Grenloch / Blackwood which anchor the trail. In all 22+ miles on the day. It was overcast and humid but a nice morning to ride. Looking forward to tomorrow (but you'll have to wait for that post #tease) #SeaGullCenturyTraining #SeaGullCentury2016 #FightForIt #FitDontQuit #LLLR #biking

The Ride: Woke up and hit the trail. Was only going to stay on the trail but once there I decided to bookend the trail with the neighborhoods for extra mileage. It was a nice ride. A few other people on the trail this morning but not crowded by any means. A solid ride.

July 02, 2016

This post will be a little different as I will just reference the many Instagram posts below for descriptions of the places we went to. There will be some aditional photos. There will also be the google map of what we biked. In addition, there will be the maps for the four official trails we were partially on.

The Ride: I've been wanting to do this ride since I really got into biking. I brought my buddy Brian along because for years he used to belong to a rollerblade club that toured the city. He was a great tour guide. I did have my requirements though. (1) Be able to take photos for the blog, (2) My bucket list item of biking the Ben Franklin Bridge and (3) I had to go to South Ferry Road. It was an amazing day. This was by far the best time I had on a bike. I look forward to doing this again at some point (but not for a while.)

Just another collage of #biking the #BenFranklinBridge today. This time i found a stock photo so those of you not familiar with the area can see it better. The view is from the NJ side looking toward the PA side. The photo lower left is in the Philly side base of the bridge at 5th Street. The photo lower right is the center of the bridge, with Philly in the background. It was damn fun biking over the bridge and all over Philly today. Independence Hall

July 04, 2016

Instagram Post: #IndependenceDay #Happy4thofJuly just another opportunity for #biking Basically hit neighborhoods around Washington Township (I have a theme going here people). 21+ miles on the day. Smooth ride. Temperature was perfect. I would have done more but I spent 40 minutes adjusting my front brakes (I learned a lot about brakes today). I love the holiday collage for my blog, this one is pretty good. After all, I'm hanging with Ben Franklin (from Saturday's Philly biking adventure) so that's pretty cool. Happy Holidays everyone #FightForIt #FitDontQuit #YouVsYou #SeaGullCenturyTraining #SeaGullCentury2016 #biking #LLLR

The Ride: Felt good today. Strong legs, not tired. I did a bunch of neighborhoods in Washington Township all of which I had been in before. It was a nice peaceful ride. The pre ride though another story. After having some issues in Philly, I tinkered with my brakes more. I wasted a good 40 minutes of riding time but I did learn a lot about how the braking system works on this bike. That experience was very valiable so I really can't complain. I still got in 21 miles and I was safe.

Instagram Post: It's a non #biking day so may as well sweat my ass off in the heat mowing the lawn. I always track the steps now while doing this & every time the mileage gets smaller I edge and use other tools every single time. I suppose since its maintained every 7-10 days, it's not as hard as the first time of the season. At any rate, it got the blood pumping. Furthermore I talked about swimming the other day and being in better shape this day compared to this day last year, well this day last year I physically could not have mowed the lawn in this heat without stopping a few times. In the battle of #YouVsYou I am definitely winning. #SeaGullCenturyTraining #SeaGullCentury2016 #FitDontQuit #FightForIt #LLLR

July 06, 2016

Instagram Post: This mornings #biking adventure was the #gloucestertownshiphealthandwellnesstrail Now if you've ever played basketball or hockey, there is a conditioning drill commonly referred to as "suicides". I took this approach to my ride today. Basically it's go to a point and return, next point and return, etc. This trail has 13 cross streets on it and I used them as my markers. So this is how it works, I started at (1) Main Street and biked to (13) Landing Road, then back to (1) Main Street. I then biked to (12) Brown Ave and back to (1) Main Street. I repeated the process to 11, 10, 9, etc until I completed the cycle. This took me 3 hours and just shy of 43 miles biked. It was an interesting ride (don't think I need to do it again), and hot! 95 & humid today. It was crazy but a strong sense of accomplishment. I found a way to take a 3.3 mile trail and stretch it to 43 miles #FightForIt #FitDontQuit #SeaGullCenturyTraining #SeaGullCentury2016 #YouVsYou #LLLR Like

The Ride: I had a plan today. I never have a plan. Anyway, in my head this was a good idea. The reality is, this sucked. There are far to many streets to do a traditional suicide. It was hot and humid. I found myself asking myself WTF are you thinking? The last 1/3 of the course really has half the streets so it felt like forever I was out on the road. In the end, I managed to do something on this trail that I have never done before and that felt amazing. Its always a good day to be on a bike.

July 08, 2016

Instagram Post: Blew out a tire this morning so that brought an end to the #biking Everything checked out okay with the bike though just needed a tube. These things happen. I've walked that mile home before #BikingProblems #YouVsYou #SeaGullCentury2016 #SeaGullCenturyTraining #FightForIt #FitDontQuit #LLLR

The Ride: You know, I had a good start to the day. Felt good. I don't know if I blew the tube today or the day before. At any rate, I also noticed some chunks in the tire and the grinding of the gears while encountering resistance, I took the bike to the shop to get it checked out. I intended to leave it there, but my guy that I bought the bike from was working and he fixed the tube, said my tires were good, life left in the chain and gave it a safety inspection so all is well. Another validation that buying the bike from this person in this store was the right call. Things happen on the road. This sport can get expensive. Its good to know that quality people are out there making sure you are safe.

July 09, 2016

Instagram Post: I woke up today and felt like crap (no was not drinking last night, I worked). I checked the weather app and it's suppose to rain all day. It would have been very easy to bag it today and use how I felt and the weather as an excuse. They are just that however excuses. Especially after yesterday's ride being cut short with a blown tube I didn't want an off day from work to pass by. I started by doing the circuit through Blackwood Estates. When finished, still no rain so I went to Grenloch and replicated yesterday's workout. In the end 32 miles of #biking on the day and get this, I feel 110% better! Strange how that happens. Oh and a bonus, because of Church Street being closed and the Farmers Market, there was no traffic at the intersection where the township sign is. So I was able to get a nice shot of it with my bike. Last time I got this close was in the winter when there was a foot and a half of snow on the ground. Overall I'll call this day a BIG WIN!! #FitDontQuit #FightForIt #SeaGullCenturyTraining #SeaGullCentury2016 #LLLR #YouVsYou

The Ride: Felt very sluggish and I was not at my best. I was going slower and in lower gears. I plowed through the day, felt better at the end and managed a nice ride. I stayed very local (within 2 miles) because of the potential rain all day. I managed to avoid all of it. Just hitting the local neighborhoods does provide a good workout though.

July 12, 2016

Instagram Post: It's been 3 days since I've been on my bike. I got out of work a little early so I went for a ride. I quick ride, 21 miles in all. HOT. HUMID. & the worst of all WINDY! All in a days ride however. No exciting issues to report tonight. Good ride through neighborhoods. #FightForIt #FitDontQuit #SeaGullCenturyTraining #SeaGullCentury2016 #LLLR #YouVsYou #Biking

The Ride: After 3 days away, this was a much needed ride. 20 plus miles is nothing to sneeze at but it has become my minimum bench mark. I hit up many neighborhoods that I have been in throughout Washington Township before. This was a familiar ride with no real drama. I did go down a couple new streets however.

July 13, 2016

Instagram Post: The sky was angry today my friends. So that meant no #biking. I did however make the best of it by doing some laps in the pool. 3550 yards (a couple miles) and felt good. No real issues today. Nobody to share a lane with either so that made it better. Just the typical #YouVsYou mental games but I got through it. Anything I do is to better myself. I think the fact that I'm self motivated enough to actually swim or bike 6-7 days a week speaks volumes to my commitment to myself. I'm proud of my results and they keep improving. Today was a good day. #SeaGullCentury2016 #SeaGullCenturyTraining #LLLR

July 14, 2016

Instagram Post: This mornings #biking adventure was a route I've planned in my head for a while but never actually did it. I realized that I could safely bike out to the #MonroeTownshipBikePath (okay so I miss calculated how long I would have to actually bike down Fries Mill Road, and that was a bit sketchy at times). Once there, I knew the trail ends in Glassboro so I was able to take Delsea Drive back most of the way. it wasn't the easiest of rides but I did something knew. Most importantly today I realized a trail I would drive to is actually now within #biking distance and that's pretty cool. I trained today. I got better. The important thing is I did it. #SeaGullCenturyTraining #SeaGullCentury2016 #YouVsYou #LLLR #FightForIt #FitDontQuit

The Ride: This was a pretyy aggressive thought I danced around with for a while. It also was a one of the few times I actually had a set plan mapped out before I started the ride. By accident I knew I could get to the Monroe Township Bike Path and I knew where it ended so I realistically knew that this ride was possible. I felt good. I really did. I did miss calculate the distance I would spend on one road and that gave me anxiety until I found my access point on the trail. Besides that I was in good spirits. I biked a good distance along a couple major roads and it was fine. I still don't like to do this but for this ride it was required. I'm treating this like the Ride of Silence for the map below. It was a circuit. I did not bike neighborhoods. I only went through a couple.

July 14, 2016

Instagram Post: I am so excited about this. I bought my new bike Easter weekend. Today I actually went over 1000 miles on it. I've been in four states, numerous trails, national parks, historical sites in this country and even road in my first organized activity. I'm amazed at the scenery out there. I've found a passion that not only benefits my health & mind but I truly enjoy. Looking at the number I still find it hard to believe I've road this bike 1000 MILES already. Let's see what the next 1000 bring. #FitDontQuit #FightForIt #YouVsYou #SeaGullCentury2016 #SeaGullCenturyTraining #Biking

It is truly amazing what you can do when you set your mind to it. I've biked about 2000 miles over the last 12 months. Before this, I hadn't rode a bike in maybe 25 years?. This sport has allowed me to see many exciting places, historical areas, beautiful scenery and believe it or not, learn more about my own area. I've been in neighborhoods within 5 miles of my home that I never knew excisted. Biking has indeed changed my life for the better. I'm glad I found a sport I could enjoy as well as find benefits of fitness.

July 19, 2016

Instagram Post: It's been a few days since I've posted a #Biking adventure so I had to get my ass back on the bike. It turned into a 24 mile journey on the #gloucestertownshiphealthandwellnesstrail with every neighborhood on it for good measure. There was also this great sunset so I stayed out on the road longer just to watch it. Just as I was finishing my ride, something flew into one of my helmet vents and stung me on the forehead. It's all puffing up now. What the hell? It hurts to. All in days biking I guess. #SeaGullCenturyTraining #SeaGullCentury2016 #YouVsYou #FightForIt #FitDontQuit #LLLR

The Ride: What is becoming my goto workout is the GTWP Trail and all the neighborhoods that it borders. Its been a good ride, windy at times and humid. I the feel of the bike was very good today. No issues at all.

July 19, 2016

Instagram Post: "When the moon is up and the skies are clear Just show me a sign and we'll be outa here" a line from one of my favorite @bryanadams songs, 'Only The Strong Survive' was very appropriate for my #MNM #Biking adventure tonight. The Full Moon made for a great backdrop and provided light as I did 5 miles in the adjacent neighborhood. I enjoy doing different things now and then and I haven't biked at night in a while. It was still hot out there though and humid. Not a bad way to end the day with a second #biking activity #SeaGullCentury2016 #SeaGullCenturyTraining #YouVsYou #FightForIt #FitDontQuit #LLLR

The Ride: This was cool. More of a fun ride then a workout but every mile on the bike counts. This Buck Moon was bright. Made for great scenery and light. Very cool how it accented the clouds. It was still in the mid 70's at this time of night though. Wow.

July 21, 2016

Instagram Post: Today's #biking adventure was multiple trails in Pennsylvania. The Perkiomen Trail, Skippack Trail & Palmer Park. It was about 48 miles in all. Now here's the thing, I didn't want to bike today. I didn't feel like biking while I was on the trail and didn't have that love for biking at all today. That said I did it. I made a commitment to #SeaGullCentury2016 so I need to keep training. Great scenery on this ride though. It was the hardest mentally challenging day I've ever had. #FitDontQuit #FightForIt #YouVsYou #LLLR #SeaGullCenturyTraining

The Ride: Always like getting back to PA and riding the Perkiomen Trail. This time when I entered Green Lane National Park, the soft dirt got the best of me and I crashed. I had not done that in a while so I was a little disapointed. Oh well life goes on. Green Lane is very scenic. Its a nice reward for getting out there. On the way back I had the dreaded Spring Mt hill to climb. Its a very steep 12 degree incline that biking down is fun, up, not so much. I'm O for Life biking up this hill. I did make it 3/4 of the way though this time and thats progress. Speaking of hills, why do I tourter myself on the Skippack Trail? At least the return ride is fun.

July 23, 2016

Instagram Post: Spent the morning watching my nephews baseball games. Late afternoon I decided to squeeze in a ride. Umm I'm F'n crazy! 104 degrees when I started. Only did 10 miles but at least I did it. Dry air, humid, sticky, nasty conditions. I got done before a wicked thunderstorm started. Wasn't a pleasant #biking experience at all, but I had to do it. #SeaGullCenturyTraining #SeaGullCentury2016 #YouVsYou #FightForIt #FitDontQuit #LLLR

The Ride: Seriously what the hell was I thinking? 104 degrees and Im like lets go ride a bike. Worst decision ever. Lets call it a bucket list item of biking in 100 degrees and then forget this ever happened.

July 25, 2016

Instagram Post: Well it's official my #SeaGullCentury2016 rider packet came today. Just waiting on my #Sysco sponsored #LLLR #biking jersey to arrive as that is what I will wear the day of the event. It's getting close & im getting very excited (of course the anxiety and nervous energy is there as well). 100 miles, I'm sore just thinking about it.

July 27, 2016

Instagram Post: Holy Hotness Batman! In the mid 90s and humid. This is not ideal #biking weather. It's ideal sweating buckets weather though. Quick ride between work and tonight's extra curricular activities. 12 miles, normal stomping grounds. I sporting my Sea Gull Century jersey tonight. Feeling all official now haha. Until the pedal turns again my friends .... #SeaGullCentury2016 #SeaGullCenturyTraining #FightForIt #FitDontQuit #YouVsYou #LLLR

The Ride: A quick ride along the GTWP Trail with the Grenloch add on. I'm becoming extremly familiar with this trail. Its my home trail. I know the roads well so I know where to push my limits. The humidity this summer continues to a struggle. Wore my Sea Gull Century jersey so I feel like this 100 mile ride thing is real now.
