Instagram Post: The #TourDePines 5 day #biking event started today. I did the Atlantic Cape Long route. I hung with the leaders for about 20 miles and then they just pulled away. I'm happy though because I sustained higher speeds for a longer period of time. In all I did 51 miles on the day. It was refreshing to have different scenery (biking through the Pine Barron's, National Parks, etc.) The main roads weren't the greatest but at least there was very little traffic. This was a good tune up for #SeaGullCentury2017 next weekend (I still have an OCMD event in a few days). #seagullcenturytraining #FightForIt #FightForIt #YouVsYou

The Ride: Always enjoy the tour, meeting new people and having a good time. At times this was a great ride hanging with the leaders and pushing myself. When I couldn't hang the whole ride it got a little scary as I found myself all alone on the road. The lesson here is don't go out and crush it, ride in the comfort zone and stay in a pack. Overall though a great ride. Wish I could do more days.

Instagram Post: ''Tis the season (Halloween that is). One day after my 51 new #TourdePines ride, I hit the local neighborhoods after work for 18 miles. This is my favorite time of year for #biking (Halloween through Christmas) seeing all the decorations, the fall crisp air and the scheduled events that end my event season. Tonight was good (better then the work day). It's always a good day when it's a bike day! #seagullcenturytraining #YouVsYou #FightForIt #FitDontQuit

The Ride: Just a ride to keep the blood moving. Never left town, just hit a few local neighborhoods and enjoyed the ride.

Instagram Post: This morning I got up really early and biked #ocmd The cool part of being up at 4 is that nobody was on the road. There was still a huge breeze coming off the ocean. I did the loop between Fenwick Island down to the inlet twice getting in just under 40 miles. This is somewhere I've always wanted to ride so I'm glad I finally had the chance to do it. #biking #seagullcenturytraining #FightForIt #FitDontQuit #YouVsYou

The Ride: Finally did this ride (twice). I thought the island was longer but it turns out its only 9 miles long so I went up and back twice. I also did this at 4am and there was nobody on the road. I was so happy about that because the only real safe place on the road is the bus lanes and usually there is a ton of traffic in them. This was a fun ride (windy), but fun.

Instagram Post: today is #MentalHealthAwarenessDay I often tell you how I'm feeling mentally as well as physically. The truth is we all have our struggles and #biking seems to be my safe haven. It's a time when it's all about me and the stress of life goes away (even for a little while). There are many people that inspire me. Some in fitness, some in life, some in work, some in relationships, etc. the point is many of these people from social media or in real life, keep me motivated and driven to improve myself everyday and they probably don't even know it. I(I'll tag a few) I thank them and all of you for the constant support in this crazy thing called life. #SeaGullCentury2017 is Saturday #YouVsYou #FightForIt #FitDontQuit

The Ride: I started off and headed to Surrey Lake. After that I got bored so I headed over to the retirement community. After coming within inches of being hot by a car, I managed to get to that community without other issues. Avoiding that intersection again, I found myself by a workout that I normally do so I simply continued my workout. I did go 20 miles and it felt pretty good.

October 11, 2017

Instagram Post: Two small rides today (done consecutively). First was just testing a function on my garmin to make sure everything will work fine on Saturday. The second was just a quick up and back on the #gloucestertownshiphealthandfitnesstrail In all it was about 12 miles. I went #biking the last three days. I'm taking the next two off so I'll have fresh legs for #SeaGullCentury2017 on Saturday. Can't believe it's here again already. Where did that year go? Thanks for all the support. #seagullcenturytraining #YouVsYou #FightForIt #FitDontQuit

The Ride: Nothing special just about 12 miles to test equipment and get in a final workout before the century ride. Feeling good.

Instagram Post: #SeaGullCentury2017 Done! 103 miles on the day. It was wet, but not a lot of rain. It made for a slick ride at times. Kinda scary but no issues. I went out very steady and maintained a comfortable speed. I felt good most of the way but after a certain point I was just tired and sore. I still love the support coming out of the tunnel to end the ride. Very emotional. It makes the entire ride worth it. Thanks for all the support everyone, it's really appreciated! #biking #YouVsYou #FightForIt #FitDontQuit

The Ride: Slow and steady. That was the motto for the day. I learned recently not to kill myself and I didn't I felt strong that I bypassed the first rest stop and went straight on to the second. I was only there long enough for water. I then hit the third stop at Assateague Island in good shape. Here I rested for a bit, ate a lot and just tried to shake out my limbs. The next leg was a little rough. I was just sore and tired but unlike last year I was not cramping. The final leg is just about powering through until it was over. The tunnel at the end is by far what makes this ride all worth it. There was a constant wetness all day. Not much rain, but the road was wet so the tires were slick, the clothes were getting wet, the bike was wet so it was not the most pleasant of experiences. On the plus side, the tempurate was perfect and there was little wind. I've done this twice now, I repeated, now we will look toward the future.

October 15, 2017

Instagram Post: The day after #SeaGullCentury2017 I went on a slow comfortable ride just to loosen up the joints a little. I actually slept in today which felt great. Okay so after today I'm at 3263.33 miles biked in 2017. This means I only have 736.67 miles to go to reach 4000 with 10 weeks left in the year. That's an average of 73.66 miles per week or 3, 25 mile rides a week. It's very doable so that's my new goal. It's always good to set goals, achieve them and then push yourself to new goals. Keep pushing #YouVsYou #FightForIt #FitDontQuit #biking

The Ride: I felt okay. This was more so I got on the bike so it didn't sit for a week. I just did the trail a couple times and caled it a day. Nothing special.
